My Story

I once heard someone say that “experience is the best teacher”.  Well, there are quite a few lessons that I wish I didn’t have to learn. Growing up in small town Alabama, my sister and I would often have to spend the night with my great-aunt. She also kept two of my other cousins who were older than us because our parents were a part of the working middle-class. Of course, the safest place for your children would be with a relative you trusted and knew loved and cared for them just as much as you.  No parent in their right mind would knowingly leave their children somewhere that they wouldn’t be safe, but unbeknownst to my parents, I wasn’t safe.  My older male cousin sexually violated me at the tender age of 8 years old. I didn’t tell anyone, I kept it a secret.

Fast-forward to my teenage years, my body began to develop and I caught the attention of an upperclassman. This is the person that I’d say I truly lost my virginity to because it was consensual.  We dated for a few years, and during that time I got my first introduction to physical violence. He was a very jealous person and we always fought. At the time, I didn’t see it as abuse because I fought back like a champ.  You see, I was an athlete, and with that came a certain level of strength, so in my mind the fight was fair. I finally ended that relationship but continued to keep the physical abuse a secret from my parents.

A year or so went by before I got into my next relationship which lasted 11 years. I thought he was my soulmate, we were inseparable. Yep, you guessed it, he became physically abusive as well.  There was a caveat this time though, I was in love and I had given birth to a beautiful baby girl. I grew up in a two-parent household and I wanted her to do the same. The environment wasn’t healthy, so I eventually ended the relationship and moved to Atlanta. By this time I’m a young adult and my parents knew about some of the abuse, but there were still secrets that I was keeping from them as it relates to all that went on in that relationship.

A new city and a new state, so you’d figure I’d have better luck in my next relationship, right? Wrong!!! I met a guy a year after moving and things started off grand. We dated for 7 years but as my relationship history thus far has shown, things turned violent. I found myself in the hospital receiving 12 stitches to the back of my head from being hit with a golf club. When I made the decision to leave, he raped me which resulted in me becoming pregnant.  I wanted no ties to him at all, so I decided to have an abortion. This was my wake-up call that something had to change, not my city, not my state but something within me had to change.

You may be asking yourself,  why would something within you need to change, you were the one being violated.  That’s true, but I had to figure out why I was attracting this kind of energy into my life over and over again? Why was I allowing this energy to stay in my life one moment after being violated? Why didn’t I feel worthy enough to receive true authentic love? That’s when I went on my journey of self-discovery and healing. I’m now 15 years removed from any abusive relationships and that energy has no place in my life.

I now live an abundant life full of love, joy, peace, forgiveness, and purpose. <span data-metadata="">

For years I’ve helped many women and young girls who were just like me break free from the chains of molestation and violence.

During the beginning stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, there were reports of an increase in molestation and domestic violence cases across the globe. Victims were stuck at home with their perpetrators with nowhere to go. God kept nudging me and saying when are you going to do what I told you to do?  I finally stopped procrastinating, answered the call, got certified as an Abundant Life Coach, and here we are today.

With that being said, I’ve made it my life’s mission to help young girls and women rise to the occasion, take their rightful place by unmuting the silence, releasing the guilt and shame, no longer feeling bound, no longer feeling unworthy, no longer feeling fearful but feeling triumphant over their own lives. I’ve gone before you, your story is my story!!!! I’ve laid out the blueprint step by step of how I overcame to become the woman that you see before you today, healed, whole and prosperous.  It’s your turn now!!!
